Apple To Open Four New Retail Stores In India: Report

Apple is reportedly planning to increase its retail presence in India. The first Apple Stores in the country opened in 2023, located in Mumbai's BKC and Delhi's Saket. Now, the company is said to be preparing to open four more stores across India.

According to The Financial Express, Apple has chosen Noida's Mall of India for one of its new stores. Another store is anticipated to open in Pune's Kopa Mall. The report says Apple has already secured locations in Pune and Noida and is searching for two more sites in Bengaluru and Mumbai.

Apple's Retail Expansion Strategy

Last month, job listings on LinkedIn revealed that Apple has begun recruiting staff for its upcoming stores. Out of 20 job postings, eight were specifically related to Apple Retail positions. This hiring activity aligns with Apple's strategy to broaden its retail footprint within the country.

The report also highlights that Apple is conducting a "New Production Introduction" (NPI) for the forthcoming iPhone 17 at a facility in India. During NPIs, the company transforms a prototype design into a blueprint ready for mass production.

Manufacturing Shift to India

Apple is also expanding its manufacturing operations within India. The company aims to relocate approximately 25% of its total production capacity to the country. This shift has become increasingly important due to high tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration on China, which was previously Apple's largest manufacturing hub.

By increasing its manufacturing capabilities and retail presence in India, Apple seeks to strengthen its position within this growing market. As the company continues to invest in both infrastructure and workforce development, it aims to enhance its overall operational efficiency and market reach.
