Clover Trail of Intel and Windows 8 pair for tablets

Intel will push its Clover Trail silicon first for the tablets powered by Windows 8 platform. The chipmaker has stated that it will launch the Atom chip, Clover Trail during the same time period when the Windows 8 platform is due.

Clover Trail will follow Medfield which is due to release in the second quarter and aimed mainly at the smartphones. Being a single core version, the Medfield will be used in certain tablets for sure while being the dual core in design the Clover Trail is definitely going to be attractive for the tablets.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will take place at the end of this month and Intel is hoped to show its Clover Trail based tablet prototypes operating on Windows 8. A source states that Acer and Lenovo are planning to release tablets powered by Windows 8 and based on Clover Trail in the third quarter of the year.

The Windows 8 platform is tablet friendly when compared to the previous version of the operating system. And it will run both on the ARM and the AMD processors.
