Canonical, the company behind the Ubuntu OS, has launched its second Ubuntu smartphone - the Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition, teaming up with Spanish phone maker BQ.

Back in February, 2015, Canonical and BQ, announced the Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition; its first handset running the Ubuntu operating system. Unlike its predecessor, the original Aquaris E5 HD was previously launched with Android OS on board.

The Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition comes with several improvements over its predecessor. As the name suggests, the smartphone sports a 5 inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution at 294ppi. It will be powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor from MediaTek, coupled with 1GB of RAM and includes 16GB of built-in storage.

Furthermore, the smartphone holds a 13 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front-facing camera and supports dual-SIM.

The Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition will be available by mid-June in Europe through BQ's online store. The unlocked smartphone is priced at EUR 199.90, which roughly translates to Rs. 12,770 at the current conversion rate.
