DD News App Launched in Google Play Store by Prasar Bharati

    India's largest public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati has launched the official Android app of DD News (Doordarshan News) in the Google Play.

    This app is now available for download and offers live-streaming of the channel broadcast, videos of the channel programming and news items.

    Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Arun Jaitley on Thursday unveiled the app at a press event in the Indian capital along with Olympian and current Minister of State or Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

    Jaitley said at the event that the launch of the application by DD News was an important milestone for Prasar Bharati as it catered to the information needs of the pan-Indian audience.

    The minister also launched an ebook of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and electronic versions of India-2015 and Bharat-2015 - reference annuals brought out by the Publications Division.

    "It was imperative to constantly and consistently improve the ongoing efforts to go digital," he said.

    The new mobile application of DD News will make live TV, news feed and top videos available on smartphones.
