Elon Musk Warns of Banning Apple Devices If Apple Integrates OpenAI at OS Level

At WWDC 2024, the Cupertino-based tech giant announced several AI-powered updates, including integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT model.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman wrote in a post ''very happy to be partnering with apple to integrate chatgpt into their devices later this year!''

The ChatGPT will be available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS platforms later this year, allowing users access to ChatGPT without creating any account.

However, Elon Musk has warned that if Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, he will ban Apple devices. CEO of Tesla wrote on an X (formerly Twitter)post, "If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation." This means employees working at his company will soon be unable to use iPhones, iPads and Macs on their office premises.

He further states, ''And visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage'', indicating one has to check their Apple devices before entering the office. According to Musk, it is an unacceptable security violation.

Musk's other post says "It's patently absurd that Apple isn't smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!" and "Apple has no clue what's actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They're selling you down the river."
