EPFO To Introduce PF Withdrawals Through UPI and ATMs By May-end

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to introduce a new system for easier fund withdrawals. This system will use UPI technology, allowing users to access their funds more conveniently. The EPFO has also detailed the withdrawal limits for users, providing clarity on how much can be accessed from their PF accounts.

Many government services are now accessible online, reflecting the Indian government's commitment to digital transformation. The EPFO is part of this shift, implementing changes that enhance user experience. These updates aim to meet the evolving needs of its members by simplifying processes and reducing wait times.

EPFO To Introduce PF Withdrawals Through UPI and ATMs By May-end

By the end of May, the EPFO plans to launch a UPI-based claim processing system. This new feature will enable users to withdraw funds from their PF accounts without the usual 2-3 day waiting period. Labour and Employment Secretary Sumita Dawra highlighted that this system will offer convenience and meet the demands of millions of EPFO users seeking simplified PF claims.

With this system, users can apply for withdrawals from home, making fund access more straightforward. Dawra mentioned that after thorough testing, the feature would be available by late May or early June. Users will be able to check their PF balances and initiate withdrawals directly through UPI apps.

Users can withdraw up to ₹1 lakh using the new UPI-based system. This process allows for quick transfers directly into bank accounts, potentially within minutes or hours. Additionally, plans are underway to introduce an EPFO ATM card, enabling direct withdrawals from ATMs without delays.

This ATM service is part of broader efforts to enhance user convenience. The EPFO is also expanding the purposes for which PF funds can be used. Members can now withdraw funds for housing, education, and marriage expenses, adding flexibility to existing claim rules.

Digital Transformation and Efficiency

The EPFO's digital transformation includes integrating over 120 databases to streamline claim processing. Currently, 95% of claims are processed automatically, with ongoing efforts to further simplify procedures. These measures aim to reduce paperwork and eliminate delays in accessing funds.

As these changes unfold, the EPFO continues to focus on improving service delivery for its members. By leveraging technology, it seeks to provide faster and more efficient access to provident fund resources.
