Facebook Acquires Ecommerce site, The Find
Facebook has acquired an Ecommerce search engine, The Find. The terms and conditions of the purchase still remain undisclosed. The Find, which has been using its search engine to exponent products across a wide variety of e-commerce sites for the past nine years will now transfer key members from its team over to Facebook in order to facilitate the integration of the company's technology into the search engine.
For those of you who don't know, TheFind.com was a discovery shopping search engine targeting lifestyle products such as apparel, accessories, home and garden, fitness, kids and family, and health and beauty founded in 2006 as FatLens Inc. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, USA owned by two Indians, Shiva Kumar and ShashiKant Khandelwal.
For Facebook users what this means is that the ads they see will be much more relevant to products and services they've been browsing for and purchasing online as the merger is allowing facebook to display ads of top products and services on its site.
This is a profound reason why retailers want to join the social networking platform to advertise their products and services. With the growing number of users in social media and thousands more joining in everyday, social networking sites are a very good platform to advertisements.

The company said, "For the last nine years, we've worked hard to bring you a shopping experience that's easy, efficient and fun searching all the stores on the Web to find just the right products you're looking to buy. We are now starting our next chapter by combining forces with Facebook to do even more for consumers. Facebook's resources and platform give us the opportunity to scale our expertise in product sourcing to the over 1 billion people that use the platform."
