Flipkart Faces Growing Customer Frustration Over Order Cancellations Before Big Billion Days Sale
As Flipkart gears up for its annual Big Billion Days sale, the company is facing an unexpected wave of controversy. Just days before the sale’s scheduled start on September 27th, customers have taken to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit to express frustration over abrupt order cancellations.
The hashtag #FlipkartScam has gained traction as users voice concerns about their unfulfilled purchases, casting a cloud over Flipkart's largest sale event of the year.

The Moto G85 5G Fiasco
The controversy began in mid-September, when customers who had purchased the Moto G85 5G through Flipkart's FireDrops platform reported that their orders were unexpectedly canceled. The phone was being sold at a staggering 99% discount as part of the FireDrops initiative, which allows users to redeem NFT-based rewards for interacting with brands.
Initially, it seemed like an irresistible deal—customers used their FireDrops points to purchase the Motorola phone at a fraction of its original price. However, disappointment quickly followed as the seller, Grahgoods Retail, confirmed the orders, only to cancel them later. This abrupt change led to significant online backlash, with users accusing Flipkart of mishandling the situation.
One disgruntled customer, @Gautamguptagg, shared a screenshot on X showing the promotional offer and his communication with Flipkart's support team. According to the customer service response, the order was canceled due to a pricing error by the seller. Similar explanations were provided to other affected customers, attributing the cancellations to an "unforeseen error."
Customer Frustration Mounts
Many customers are dissatisfied with Flipkart's handling of the situation, especially since the offer was clearly endorsed on the FireDrops platform. Some users have reported not only canceled orders but also instances where their packages were marked as "delivered" despite not receiving them. In one case, a user claimed their iPhone 15 Pro Max order was falsely marked as delivered.
Flipkart's cancellation policy allows orders to be canceled before dispatch, but once an item is out for delivery, cancellations are not permitted. However, customers argue that the cancellations in this case occurred after the orders had been confirmed and even dispatched, further fueling frustrations.
Flipkart’s Response and Unanswered Questions
In response to the growing discontent, Flipkart’s customer support team has been actively engaging with users on X, requesting that they reach out via Direct Message for assistance. However, as the number of complaints grows, many feel that the responses provided by the company have been insufficient.
Despite the rising tension, Flipkart has yet to issue an official statement addressing the situation. With the Big Billion Days sale just around the corner, the company faces the challenge of regaining customer trust and addressing these allegations in a timely manner.
