Gmail To Be Re-Done: Pinterest-like Image Grids for Promotions On the Cards

Google has been testing a number of its services in the recent months to make the offerings even better for its huge base of users. And it seems like the latest one involves its own Gmail offering with more changes happening soon.

According to reports, Google is currently working on a new and more visual way for the user to view his or her Promotions tab with the promotions tab now set to be featured similar to Pinterest-like image grids.

The marketing emails already come with a pin sort of image that looks like ads with large images, instead of them showing up in regular emails. However, as a part of the new view set to be applied by the company, Google will offer an opportunity to marketers to certify which image and content they want to highlight in the near future.

"To help you find what you're looking for faster, you can now sign up for a new field trial for Gmail that lets you view the Promotions tab in a more visual way," writes Aaron Rothman, Product Manager.

"Promotional mail has a lot of images, from pictures of snazzy new shoes to photos of that rock-climbing gym you've been wanting to try. But right now, those images are buried inside your messages-and with only subject lines to go on, it can be a challenge to quickly pick out the deals and offers that interest you most."

in order to take part in the field trial, users can sign up at and if they're selected, "a new grid view will bring to the top of your inbox key images from deals, offers, and other marketing emails if you have the Promotions tab enabled."

The report also states that the company is currently experimenting with the feature for now.
