Google Announces SoCs for Project Ara
Rumors related to the ARA arrived back in October 2013 when a YouTube video called Phonebloks showcased a concept for an entirely modular smartphone where the parts could be changed per users' wishes.

For those who are not aware, this is an upcoming smartphone by Google that will feature modular components. Recently, Google has sent out a Google+ post detailing about the upcoming Project Ara devices. One of the big pieces of news is the announcement of two chipsets that will be used with some of the current designs.

Previously Google revealed that they would be using a Rockchip SoC and now according to a new Google+ post, Google has revealed other options which will include a Marvell PXA1928 SoC and an NVIDIA Tegra K1 chipset which can also be found in the recently released Nexus 9.
Other information includes an ETA for the Spiral 3 prototype (spring,) and a soon-to-be-coming new switch and bridge frames for the devices from Toshiba.
The one detail we all are looking for at the moment. The release date for the ARA smartphone is still to be announced. However, reports have claimed that the device could arrive as soon as next year.
