Google's annual I/O developer conference is a platform to announce new products or software upgrades. At last year's I/O, Google announced an early developer build of Android L operating system, alongside the launch of some Android Wear smartwatches. The tech giant formally announced its new streaming media interface, Android TV. A number of hardware partners were also announced, bringing the interface to future HDTVs and set-top boxes.

Google has a tradition of launching new products at its I/O developer conference. In 2012, Google demonstrated its famous Project Glass. This is the conference, where the first Nexus 7 was unveiled.
Last year, Google started a lottery system after the conference sold out in 49 minutes in 2013 and 30 minutes the year before. That system will be put in place again this year.
