Google is working AI-backed plans for Podcasts including Real-Time translation and more
Nowadays audio is becoming a most favoured feature when it comes to searching, Google will probably tweak its algorithms to help listeners discover new podcasts
Google Assistant is one good example of how the tech giant is working towards achieving a perfect AI-based system for its devices. We all know how Google has been working towards providing the users with one of the best AI which is out there. Nevertheless, the company has been able to get a stronghold in the market when it comes to web searches and video streaming. With its own web OS often known Chrome OS and video service platform YouTube, Google certainly does give a tough beat to most of the companies out there.
Now, as per some sources from the web, Google is all set to make an entry in the audio market via reimagined podcast and audio search functionality.
Google co-founder Sergey Brin mentioned earlier this week that, Google is using its full AI and machine learning capability to transform a number of services. And it's doing the same with podcasts, and how we listen to them, he further added.
Google Podcast now is a standalone division at Google. The product is being led by Product Manager Zack-Reneau-Wedeen. This what you will get on a podcast;
Making audio a 'First Class' citizen
The Play Music has a podcast category, however, as per Google the product is a dedicated product and it has been decided that it will have prominent placements in a search result. Google plans on making audio a 'first class' citizen that should be placed next to the text, mages and also video in search results.
As per some sources from the web, Google is keen on making users easily play podcast, right from the search result'. However, if Google thinks that the podcast is able to search a query then it will allow the users to access that feature and also try to get new listeners in return.
This indicates that one could expect to see podcasts that have talked about a user's search topic, be it sports, music, movie or celebrities, over the next few weeks and months. This requires podcast metadata and Google has the power to decode and handle it all. Commenting on the same, Reneau-Wedeen says:
In the longer term, integrating with Search means figuring out what each podcast is about and understanding the content of that podcast. This is something Google has done extremely well for text articles, as well as for images and even more structured data such as maps. We can help with audio, too.
Audio SEO & Monetisation
Nowadays audio is becoming a most favoured feature when it comes to searching, Google will probably tweak its algorithms to help listeners discover new podcasts while also defining guidelines that'll help a user rank their content higher in a search. This is possibly going to be called Audio SEO.
Google already enables a user to play around with the settings to make their podcast appear in search results but there's no audio SEO in place right now. This phase of the product is said to be importing when podcasts are finally able to give them an answer to their query, similar to the recently launched celebrity video answers in a search.
