Google might acquire Nokia's in-flight Wi-Fi business
If the acquisition is successful, then it will add to the slew of connectivity related products and services on which Google and its parent Alphabet inc. are working on.
Google is reportedly in talks with the Finnish telecom giant Nokia in order to acquire Nokia's aeroplane broadband business. As per some sources from the web, the negotiation between both the companies are said to be on advanced stage and they can soon enter into an agreement. The acquisition is further said to help Google with air WiFi solutions which are faster than what the companies like Gogo offer at the moment.
Nokia had announced the airplane broadband technology last year and the company also unveiled its LTE A2G cellular-based system which 'creates a direct link between an aircraft and the ground instead of bouncing the signal off of a satellite' which in turn makes it fast then what is offered by in-flight internet company Gogo along with much lower latency.
Further it is also being reported that if the acquisition is successful, then it will add to the slew of connectivity related products and services on which Google and its parent Alphabet inc. are working on, however, most of them are still to be available for the masses. Most of us might have heard about the Google Fiber which was announced back in 2010; however, the service has not progressed much since then apart from a few cities in the US.
It would be interesting though to see how the Google's attempt to acquire Nokia's airplane broadband business goes. However, there is no official comment from Google or Nokia regarding the acquisition, we will keep you posted on the same, so stay tuned with us.
Also in one of our recent articles related to Google, we covered that Google is at last working on fixing the issue with Android Oreo Multi-touch which has been troubling the users for quite some time now. The multi-touch issue in Android 8.1 Oreo resulted in irregular touch behaviour while using it with two or more finger's on the display. The issue seems to be widespread and users from all around are experiencing this issue. Now that Google has fixed the issue, it will be rolling out the update in June as the security updates for the month of May has been already been locked down. Read the complete story here.
