Google Password Manager Now Offers Family Sharing Option

Google has unveiled a new feature allowing users to share passwords with family members through Google Password Manager. This tool securely stores passwords for all digital accounts, and now, it extends its functionality to family sharing.

Initially announced earlier this year, the password-sharing feature is now available. Users can access it once Google Play services update to version 24.20 this week. The Password Manager is accessible on mobile, desktop, and via the Chrome browser.

How to Share Passwords

This feature requires setting up a family group. To share passwords, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Password Manager in the Chrome browser and select a saved account.
  2. A pop-up message will prompt you to "Share copy of your password." Enter your family member's details here.
  3. Your family member can then use the shared password for relevant apps or services.

Google Pay Discontinuation in Several Countries

In other news, Google will discontinue Google Pay services in several countries from June 4th. After this date, payments through the app will no longer be possible. Google Wallet, introduced in 2022, has seen a rapid increase in users since then.

From June 4th, US users will not be able to send or receive money via Google Pay. Currently, users in 180 countries have transitioned to Google Wallet, which offers numerous features and has gained popularity quickly.

Google is urging all US users to switch to Google Wallet as part of its strategy to promote the newer service. Despite these changes, Google Pay will continue to operate in India and Singapore beyond June 4th.
