Google, Twitter and Amazon also track users and collect data for Ads says Facebook
The company is pointing towards the business rivals Twitter and LinkedIn, which according to the social media giant have similar content sharing and user profiling mechanism.
Following the Cambridge Analytica scandal, the social media giant Facebook is on high alert. Now it seems like most of the major decisions that are taken by the social media giant is related to improving privacy. For example the new data bounty program along with the suspension of marketers including AggregateIQ and CubeYou which are said to be linked with the data abuse.
It seems like Facebook is playing a blame game now. The company is pointing towards the business rivals Twitter and LinkedIn, which according to the social media giant have similar content sharing and user profiling mechanism. This should not come as a surprise as it seems like the scammers and hackers are advanced now days and they tend to make use of the loopholes in an apps security platform.
Google was also not left behind and was targeted by the social media giant, claiming that the tech giant also utilized a popular analytics service. Facebook took it to long explanatory post which can be categorized as a masked apology-cum accusation that the other companies are also collecting user data on a huge scale.
Apart from revealing the information on how Facebook tracks the non-users, David Baser, Product Management Director, said that 'Google has a popular analytics service and Amazon, Google and Twitter offer login features. He further commented that; Many companies offer these types of services and, like Facebook, they also get information from the apps and sites that use them. Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn all have similar Like and Share buttons to help people share things on their services.
In one of our recent articles related to Facebook, we covered that the social media giant has been facing a lot of trouble after the Cambridge Analytica's data breach has been reported. The report literally goes back to 2014, when a Russian origin academic at Cambridge University Aleksandr Kogan has created a Facebook app which use to pay the users for taking up a psychological test. That data which were collected by the test was later sold by Kogan to Cambridge Analytica, a voter profiling company in the UK.
