Indian Smartphone Users Are Increasingly Switching From Android To iPhones: Report
Apple Inc. has been celebrating the steady rise of iPhone sales, and India is one of the most promising markets for the company. A new report has confirmed that there has been a clear and steady rise in the number of people who have adopted the iPhone.
Android as a mobile Operating System, still controls the majority of the Indian smartphone market. However, the number of iPhone devices purchased and the usage patterns of Indian smartphone users suggests the demographics are steadily changing in the country.

Android Smartphone Users Switching To Apple iPhone
A Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) report has revealed that there has been a steady rise in the number of iPhone users in India. The research company looked at the data on iPhone purchases over the last nine years.
One of the key observations in the report was on the smartphones people had before they bought an iPhone. Needless to say, there has been a noticeable and persistent shift in the usage patterns of Indian smartphone users.
Statistically speaking, the report mentions from March 2022 to March 2023 15 percent of people who bought an iPhone said they had moved from an Android phone, while 83 percent said they would stick with the iPhone.
Simply put, Apple iPhone users remain loyal to the iOS and Apple ecosystem. However, even regular Indian Android smartphone users are now gradually shifting to the iPhone.
This rise in the number of iPhone users is a relatively recent phenomenon. Over the previous nine years, there has been a steady decrease in the frequency of switching from Android to iOS. It peaked in the year before March 2016 at 21 percent. By the year ending in March 2020, that rate had steadily fallen to 10 percent.
Since April 2020, however, there has been a slow rise. And currently, around 15 percent of Android smartphone users seem to be switching to the iPhone. Additionally, during the same time period, smartphone users who only go for an iPhone, have gone up.
Isn't Switching Mobile OS And Ecosystem Difficult or Confusing?
In the past, a large number of smartphone users who had switched to the Apple iPhone had come non-Android ecosystems. Specifically speaking, these users had been using Windows, Blackberry, smaller operating systems, and basic phones like flip phones.
However, in the past few years, Android and iOS are the only two predominant ecosystems. There are dozens of smartphone manufacturers for the Android ecosystem, but only Apple makes the iPhone.
Switching operating systems may have been cumbersome in the past. However, with several new dedicated apps, this transition has become significantly simpler.
