Is Apple launching a mini iPad in 2012?
In order to compete with the 7 inch tablets present in the market like the Nook and Kindle Fire and also with the largely sized smartphones that are manufactured by major technological giants, Apple plans to develop and launch mini iPad with 7.85 inch display in the later half of the next year.
The industry is buzzing about this rumor and if they are true, Apple will purchase the 7.85 inch display panels from LG Display and AU Optronics. As per a famous Taiwanese technological site, the manufacturers are to take up the production of 7.85 inch models in the second quarter of the next year.
Apple is also seen to express interest in manufacturing the mini iPad with 7.85 inch display. The mini iPad is expected to come into the market in the later half of the 2012.
Late. Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple once mentioned about the company's interest in manufacturing 7 inch tablets saying that they will offer a great touchscreen experience. The 7 inch tablets are highly competitive to the others tablets as well as smartphones. He also added that they will go dead on arrival.
But now after the expiry of Jobs, Apple looks like it is deviating from his vision as the company is in plans of launching the iPad 3 in the first quarter of 2012 and has started working on high resolution displays for this next generation tablet.
