ISRO Already Prepping For Chandrayaan-3 Launch In November 2020

ISRO Chandrayaan-2 had some high expectations, which unfortunately crashed with the Vikram lander. But ISRO is not done with the Moon explorations yet. The premier space agency is already gearing up for the next lunar mission with the Chandrayaan-3, set to launch in November 2020. However, no final decision has been taken yet says ISRO officials.

ISRO officials state that the agency will be ready for the next Moon mission by the end of 2020 and that the planning is under discussions. The Chandrayaan-3 is going to be another milestone for ISRO. However, some of the senior ISRO scientists are skeptic about taking off in November next year, a report states.

An ISRO scientist said that the work is in full flow for the Chandrayaan-3. It looks like the agency has spotted ten specific factors for the upcoming mission, including absolute navigation, local navigation, landing site, and more. ISRO is working on a detailed analysis of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, especially when it comes to the lander.

ISRO Chandrayaan-3 Mission

The Chandrayaan-3 will be following the footsteps of its predecessors Chandrayaan-1, which undertook the 'Moon Impact Probe' mission; and the Chandrayaan-2 that attempted to soft-land on the Moon's South Pole. If the Vikram lander had completed the soft landing, more data about the Moon's southern surface could have been collected.

Reports state that ISRO is taking recommendations from the expert committee of the Chanrayaan-2 mission. It looks like the idea is to rectify errors done during the Chandrayaan-2 Vikram landing. A scientist said that the agency is working on 'strengthening the legs of the lander' for the Chandryaan-3. So far, there has been no input regarding the number of payloads aboard the Chandryaan-3 yet.

ISRO chief K. Sivan previously announced that the agency is not going to give up on the Moon mission. It looks like it will soon be seen in reality. He had mentioned that the Indian Space Research Organization would attempt another Moon landing 'in the near future', which could be as early as next year.
