ISRO Cartosat-3 Launch Postponed: Reason?

The Cartosat-3 satellite is scheduled to launch from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Center at Sriharikota. In addition to the Cartosat-3 satellite, the PSLV-C47 launch spacecraft was also going to carry 12 nanosatellites that were sent from the US, as part of the space department's New Space India Limited (NSIL) alliance with the US.

When ISRO first announced the launch of the Cartosat-3 satellite, it had certainly noted that its launch would depend on the weather conditions. The launchpad lies on an island in Andhra Pradesh, in sync with the North-East monsoons. Reports are speculating that the space agency could be rescheduling the launch due to weather conditions. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.

What Is Cartosat-3?

The Indian Space Research Organization earlier announced the launch of the Cartosat-3, which is an earth imaging and mapping satellite. It is the third-generation agile advanced satellite that would be used for surveillance to keep an eye on the Kashmir border to curb terror groups and other such activities.

ISRO had notes that the Cartosat-3 satellites would be placed in an orbit of 509 km at an inclination of 97.5 degrees. ISRO also notes that space enthusiasts can register to watch the launch spectacular. In a separate tweet, the space agency has called forward interested members to view the launch of the Cartosat-3 from the Launch View Gallery at Sriharikota. Registrations begin from November 20 at 8 AM.
