Leap Motions showcases concept AR headset embedded with Hand-Tracking
Leap Motions Project North Star enabled headset will make use of two fast-refreshing 3.5-inch LCD displays that comes along with resolution of 1600 x 1440 per eye.
Leap Motions, the company which is known for its gesture interface, has recently announced its plan for the AR (Augmented reality) platform which is based on its tracking system. As per some reports from the Verge, the system is named as Project North Star, and it comprises a design for a headset. Further, it is being speculated by the company that the Project North Star would cost less than $100 when manufactured on a large scale. The headset is also said to be equipped with a Leap Motion sensor which will allow the users to manipulate objects by using hand gestures.
It is being further reported that the Project North Star enabled headset will make use of two fast-refreshing 3.5-inch LCD displays that comes along with resolution of 1600 x 1440 per eye. The displays are also said to reflect their light onto a visor which in turn makes a user perceive as a transparent overlay. Further, the Leap Motion offers a field view which is 95 degrees high and 70 degrees wide, larger than what a usual AR system offers today.
As mentioned earlier the headset is equipped with Leap Motion's gesture-tracking tech which is said to identify hand gestures across a 180-degree wide field view both horizontally and vertically. Also, the company's vision is to inspire innovation in AR technology by releasing the hardware and software specification under an open source license.
We will keep you posted with the further updates on AR and VR technology, so stay tuned with us for more updates.
