Nokia has quietly unveiled an extremely affordable feature phone running on Series 40 platform – Nokia 109. The handset is packed with GPRS/EDGE 2G Internet connectivity and hence, it is the cheapest Internet-centric handset launched ever.
Nokia 109 houses a 1.8 inch TFT display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels, 16MB internal storage, micro SD card supporting up to 32GB additional storage, Nokia’s Series 40 platform, GPRS/EDGE 2G, 800 mAh Li-ion battery offering up to 7.5 hours talktime and 790 hours standby.
As Nokia 109 is designed for those consumers who like to purchase an easy-to-use handset with Internet connectivity, it is preloaded with Nokia Xpress Browser that enables for 90% faster browsing experience. The handset offers quick access to social networks including Facebook and Twitter right from the homescreen and supports eBuddy instant messenger that can be downloaded from Nokia Store.
Nokia 109 will be available in a couple of color variants – Black and Cyan by the end of this year in market including China, Asia Pacific and Europe. The handset will be priced at $42 (approx. Rs 2,250).
