Asus the Taiwanese tech giant released the original PadFone in India only in September after over six months from its unveiling. In the meantime, the company has come up with its upgraded version dubbed as PadFone 2.

Asus took the wraps off PadFone 2 in Milan and Taipei on October 16 as promised. Have a look at its specs below.

The unique feature of the original PadFone its tablet dock dubbed as PadFone Station, which doubles the smartphone into a 10.1 inch tablet. Being the successor of PadFone, the PadFone 2 also comes with the PadFone Station, which will have a 10.1 inch IPS display, 5,000 mAh battery, 514 grams weight and a new 13-pin connector port.

Dimensions & Weight: Though the dimension of PadFone 2 is not known, it weighs around 135 grams.

Display: PadFone 2 sports a larger 4.7 inch Super IPS+ capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.

Processor: The hybrid device packs an awesome quad core Qualcomm APQ8064 SoC processor under its hood.

Operating System: Though PadFone 2 comes with Android ICS OS, Asus has promised that it will roll out the Jelly Bean upgrade soon.

Camera: In terms of camera optics, the device is equipped with a 13MP rear camera with BSI sensor and a 1.2MP front camera for video calling.

Memory: PadFone 2 comes with 2GB RAM and 50GB Asus WebStorage for two years. However, there is no confirmation about the presence of a micro SD card slot for expandable memory support.

Further, it will come in three configurations – 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage.

Connectivity: On the connectivity front, the hybrid device is packed with features including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.

 

Battery: PadFone 2 is loaded with a 2,140 mAh Li-ion battery.

Price: As claimed by Asus, 32GB and 64GB variants of PadFone 2 will retail for €799 (approx. Rs 55,000) and €899 (approx. Rs 62,000) respectively.
