Meta Rolls Out AI Voice Translation for Reels on Facebook and Instagram - How Does It Work?

Meta has started rolling out AI-powered voice translation for Reels on Facebook and Instagram. The feature is now available globally for Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts.

What Is Meta AI Translations?

Meta AI Translations is a free tool that automatically dubs and lip-syncs your Reels into another language once enabled. This makes it easier for creators to connect with their followers worldwide.

With this, you can speak directly to viewers in their native language, making your content more accessible to new followers. Meta AI translations are now available for English to Spanish and Spanish to English translations, with more languages coming soon.

How Meta AI Translations Works

Step 1: To use Meta AI Translations, first click "Translate your voice with Meta AI".

Step 2: Now, toggle the button to turn on translations and whether you want to enable lip syncing.

Step 3: Then click the "share now" option, and the translation can be seen in Spanish or English.

If you'd like to review the translation before it's published, simply switch on the review toggle. Once enabled, you'll receive a notification, or you can head to the Professional Dashboard to review it.

Translated reels will be shown to viewers in their preferred language, and they will be able to see that your reel was translated with Meta AI. Viewers also have control over it and can choose not to see translations in specific languages by selecting "Don't translate" in the audio and language section within the three-dot settings menu.

Meta also confirms in its blog that "if you have a Facebook Page and already translate your own reels, you can now upload up to 20 of your own dubbed audio tracks to a single Reel, helping you connect with a broader audience across different languages."
