Microsoft AI introduced for better Hindi, Bengali, Tamil translation
Microsoft has used SMT (Statistical Machine Translation) technology since early 2000 for the translation of global and Indian languages.
With approaching Republic Day in India, Microsoft rolls out AI( Artificial Intelligence) and Deep Neutral Networks which will refine the language translation process for Indian Regional languages like Hindi, Tamil and Bengali . The real-time language translation is supposed to be more accurate and sound more natural as per the company

As per some reports, users can avail the Deep Networks-enhanced Indian language translation while surfing the internet on its Edge browser. The language translation will also work on Bing search, Bing Translator website. Microsoft Office programs like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Skype also supports the new language translator.Google Android and Apple iOS also can translate languages from text, speech and pictures using the Microsoft Translator app which is available for both the platforms.
Microsoft has used SMT (Statistical Machine Translation) technology since early 2000 for the translation of global and Indian languages. However the SMT was limited to translating a word which was within the local context of the nearby words.
On the other hand Deep Neural Networks is capable of encoding various concepts like politeness level(casual, written, slang and formal) words along with the type of word (verb, noun, adjective).
This system requires millions of parallel sentences in each language pairs, i.e permutation and combinations of words for an accurate translation.

Indian languages also includes of Dravidian and Aryan subdivisions which are a bit complicated language. Along with 29 different states and 22 official languages it was quite a task for Microsoft as the complexity increased, claims the company. The huge amount of digital content in Indian language, which could be pulled from the Internet to train the neural networks, was another complicated task for the company.
The reports further claim that six Indian languages are part of top 20 global languages by population. However these languages do not top the list of digital content as the data available over the web s limited for these languages.
Microsoft's Deep Neural Networks-powered translation however shown improvement in human and automatic evolution metrics.
