Microsoft releases Windows Defender extension for Chrome

Microsoft Windows Defender is known for providing security to the Microsoft Windows and also the Edge browser along with other Microsoft products. Now, Microsoft is planning on taking a bigger leap by releasing the Windows Defender extension for chrome.

As per some reports from the web, the antivirus is released in form of a browser extension for Chrome and is named as "Windows Defender Browser Protection" which is said to be available for the Mac and Linux users also apart from the Windows users. Further, the extension will be protecting the users from malicious links and also alert them if it finds any phishing emails or links to the website that scam the users to download malware and other harmful software.

Google, on the other hand, keeps an eye on the security of the users and offer protection against the malicious links within the Chrome browser. However, Microsoft claims that in comparison to the dedicated features in both the Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, the windows Defender extension is more accurate. It is also being said that while the Chrome offers protection in 87 percent cases and Firefox in 70 percent, the Microsoft Windows Defender gives the protection to the users in 99 percent of the cases.

The report further suggests that the Windows Defender uses an up-to-date list of URLs that have been reported malicious.
