Microsoft’s Project Spartan Browser Officially Named Microsoft Edge at Build 2015
At its Build conference on Wednesday, Microsoft finally revealed the official name for Project Spartan, the name for its new web browser: Microsoft Edge. The company's latest web browser is due to be officially unveiled on Windows 10, when the new operating system launched in late July.
Unlike Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge will support modern browser functions, such as extensions. According to the Redmond-based tech giant, Microsoft Edge is more refined successor to Internet Explorer, and will launch as the default browser on Windows 10.

Speaking at the Build 2015 developer conference, Joe Belfiore, Microsoft's Corporate VP of operating systems, announced the new branding. Edge will use an "e" icon similar to the Internet.
He further noted: "the "e" icon "now has a completely different and better meaning than it has for a while."
The browser will be running on Microsoft Windows 10 mobile, but users can download the Edge browser for notebooks or tablets. Edge is integrated with Cortana and will be a Universal app, meaning it will be available for download, and be updated, from the Store itself. It has got a reading mode for a great reading experience for web articles online and offline.
