MWC 2025: Qualcomm Unveils X85 5G Modem-RF For Enhanced Connectivity

At MWC 2025, Qualcomm introduced the X85 5G Modem-RF, marking its eighth-generation modem-to-antenna solution and fourth-generation AI-powered connectivity system. This innovation aims to enhance connected and AI-driven applications by offering faster speeds for streaming, downloads, and uploads. It also promises improved network reliability in crowded areas, longer battery life, and better location accuracy for a superior user experience.

The Qualcomm X85 is set to lead connectivity advancements in Android smartphones with its industry-leading 5G Advanced features. Besides smartphones, this modem is designed to support 5G Advanced capabilities in various devices such as PCs, fixed wireless access points, automotive systems, XR devices, and more.

Qualcomm's Broader 5G Strategy

Alongside the X85, Qualcomm Technologies has announced the X82 5G Modem-RF. This solution is tailored for mainstream mobile broadband applications, offering multi-Gigabit download and upload speeds. To facilitate development across different sectors like Customer Premises Equipment (CPEs), mobile broadband (MBB), PCs, IoT devices, and more, M.2 and LGA reference designs based on both the X82 and X85 are available.

The Qualcomm X85 and X82 modems are currently being sampled by customers. They are anticipated to be integrated into commercial devices during the latter half of this year.
