Nikhil Gandhi Former President And COO Of Times Network Joined TikTok As India Head
TikTok, the online video-sharing app has announced the new appointment of Nikhil Gandhi as its India head on October 25. Gandhi will operate the app from Mumbai and lead the development of the product in the country. Earlier he is working for Times Global Broadcasting as president and chief operating officer. Here are the details:
According to the reports, Gandhi will focus more on inspiring new and existing creators on TikTok. He will also work play an important role in ex[panding the positive impact of the app across the country. He will also take care of the new wing of TikTok which is known as EduTok.
Gandhi has over 20 years of experience in the media field, he has leaded media and entertainment companies in the span of his professional career. Before Time Network, he worked for nine years in The Walt Disney Company, Viacom Media Networks, and UTV Global Broadcasting as well.
"I am excited to be part of TikTok's journey in India at a time when it is strengthening its overall presence in the country and building a platform that enables creative expression. I am looking forward to working with the team to build a platform that adds value to India's growing digital community, every day," Livemint quoted Gandhi as saying.
Currently, the TikTok app has more than 200 million users in India. It has debuted in India back in 2017, however, in the initial stage, it didn't witness instant growth. However, later the app was famous and it started growing. A small town across the country played a very crucial role in the rapid growth of the app.
Later the app has faced issues with the Indian government as well. The app was also removed from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. However, later the company managed to comeback on both the platforms.
