Online Hiring Activity Grew 13% in Nov: Monster Index
Online hiring activity in India rose by 13 per cent in November compared to the year ago period, led by home appliances industry which registered the steepest growth in job opportunities, a job portal said today. The Monster.com's employment index, a monthly gauge of the country's online job demand, rose by 16 points (up 13 per cent) to 144 in November this year from 128 in the same period a year ago.
On a month-on-month basis, however, the industry depicted muted growth since September this year, but going forward the outlook looks bullish, online and career recruitment solutions provider Monster.com said. "As the economy is shaping up, we are hopeful that the year 2015 will bring about increased employment opportunities," Monster.com (India/Middle-East/South East Asia/Hong Kong) Managing Director Sanjay Modi said.
Industry-wise analysis showed that online opportunities in November surpassed the year-ago level in 12 of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Index. "Home Appliances registered the steepest growth among industry sectors with 33 per cent. However, manufacturing is not expected to make any significant additions to their existing workforce in coming months," Modi said.

Occupation wise, online demand improved in 12 of the 13 occupation groups monitored by the Index. Among occupation groups, marketing and communications (up 33 per cent) saw the steepest growth in demand between November 2013 and 2014.
Moreover, there is consistent demand for professionals at the Senior Management level, the report said. City-wise online opportunities exceeded the year-ago level in 12 of the 13 cities monitored by the Index even this month. Bangalore has shown an increase of 24 per cent followed by Delhi-NCR with 21 per cent.
Meanwhile, Monster.com India this month launched new features that would empower job seekers and recruiters to identify the best opportunities and connect on the go. The company has launched the Monster Mobile App, its Professional Networking feature and Monster Analytics, wherein employers can seek talent more effectively.
