Speculations are rife that Qualcomm is working in the successor of Snapdragon 660, the Snapdragon 670. The chipset has featured in quite a few leaks till now, with well-known tipster Roland Quandt revealing some of its key specs. It looks like Qualcomm is currently testing the performance of the processor on a prototype device. We say so as the chipset has made an appearance again, this time on the Geekbench.

The benchmark listing shows that a device is running on Android 8.1.0 Oreo and is powered by the SD 670 clubbed with 6GB of RAM. In the single-core test, the test device has obtained an impressive score of 1,863. While in the multi-core test, it has recorded a score of 5,256. The chipset is listed with a clock frequency of 1.71GHz.

Previous leaks had suggested that the upcoming processor will offer support for WQHD resolution. To put it in other words, it will be able to support a maximum screen resolution of 2,560×1,440 pixels.

What's more, the Snapdragon 670 chipset will also be able to support up to 6 GB of DDR4X RAM and 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. On the imagery aspect, it will be able to support a rear camera of 22.6-megapixel and a front-facing camera of 13-megapixel.

The Snapdragon 670 chipset is said to be built on 10nm LPP (Low Power Plus) manufacturing technology by Samsung. It reportedly comprises of two high-performing Kryo 360 cores along with six low-power Kryo cores.

Lastly, the Snapdragon 670 SoC is speculated to be equipped with a new 600 series Adreno graphics. According to the information we have obtained so far, Qualcomm will start the mass production of Snapdragon 670 processor in the first quarter of 2018. So we expect the presence the chipset on smartphones that will be released mid this year.

The Snapdragon 660 has proved to be a pretty potent chipset, just after the Snapdragon 835 processor. Several popular smartphones including the Oppo R11/R11s, R11/R11s Plus, Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Vivo X20, Asus ZenFone 4 are powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC.
