The Exynos 9810 was already announced back in November, but the mass production of the chipset has started only now. The Exynos 9810 SoC has been selected as a CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2018 Innovation Awards HONOREE in the category for Embedded Technologies product. The processor will be showcased at CES 2018 between January 9 to 12 in Las Vegas, US.

While the Exynos 9810 is manufactured on the 10nm production node just like its predecessor, it is expected to deliver a better performance with lower power consumption.

As we know, in some markets, Samsung launches the Snapdragon variant of its flagships. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is also manufactured based on the 7nm process.

Coming back to the Exynos 9810, it may be not made on the same 10nm process, it does bring several under the hood improvements. Samsung says that the Exynos 9810 processor has "3rd-generation custom CPU cores, upgraded GPU, and gigabit LTE modem with industry-first 6CA support."

The Exynos 9810 is an octa-core processor that comprises of four third-generation custom cores and four cores that are optimized to deliver efficient performance. It can achieve a maximum clocking speed of 2.9 GHz. In comparison with its predecessor, the Exynos 9810 is capable of delivering twofold single-core performance as well as offering 40 percent better multi-core performance.

Thanks to the neural network-based deep learning and robust security offered by the Exynos 9810, smartphones with this chipset will be able to easily identify people and objects in photos for depth sensing or for quickly performing image search. The processor supports hybrid facial detection (by scanning a user's face in 3D), iris scanner and fingerprint scanner.

The new Exynos chipset is equipped with the Cat.18 LTE modem, which can support download speed up to 1.2 Gbps and upload speed up to 1.2 Gbps. The modem will also allow users to stream or broadcast content with up to 4K resolution as well as 360-degree video.

Moreover, the Exynos 9810 chipset comes with a dedicated image processing and upgraded multi-format codec (MFC), which will let users to immersive multimedia experience.

Smartphones powered with this processor will be capable of shooting highly stable videos of up to 4K resolution, brighter photos in dim light conditions and real-time out-of focus photography. Lastly but not the least, tt also supports playback of 4K videos at 120fps.
