Samsung Premiere Event 2013 Round Up: A Look at 6 Devices Announced

This year witnessed the advent of more than expected number of devices along with astonishing announcements from different tablet, PC and mobile phone manufacturers. First it all started with the Computex 2013 that brought a multiple number of devices in the market with Asus and Acer announcing their various tablets and Laptops.

Following came the Apple's WWDC 2013, where they announced their latest version of iOS and OS and Mac Pro. Not only that but the gaming devices also got a bit of refreshment with the E3 event where they announced PS4 and other devices. However the showing and unveiling doesn't stop yet. Now it is Samsung's turn as they unveiled a number of their latest products yesterday at their Premiere Event 2013.

Needless to say, Samsung is one manufacturer which has an odd way of throwing products in the market. The tech world has seen the swirls and whirls created by Samsung's products in the market. To mention, the South Korean Giant, Samsung has given the best of their devices so far to its fans. The Galaxy Series of devices from Samsung has had a relatively better reception compared to others and consequently the device is more popular than others. Samsung has not only been the best in the market but has also made Apple and BlackBerry aware of its presence. It has been a constant check to them.

However, Samsung's recent Premiere Event 2013 has satisfied its fans by unveiling their 6 latrest devices which include an aggressive hybrid PC named ATIV Q which runs on Both Android Jelly Bean Platform and Windows 8 OS. Samsung also announced the new color variants of Galaxy S4.

Hybrid ATIV Q

Samsung has officially announced the new ATIV Q which boasts an incredible 3200 x 1800 qHD+ display resolution, the hybrid device is capable of running on both Windows 8 and Android 4.2.2 platform.
The 13.3-inch screen comes with a non-reflective glass for outside use, according to Samsung, and offers up to 178 degree viewing angle. The hybrid ATIV Q also takes advantage of S Pen support. The lateset ATIV Q can be used in tablet mode, laptop mode, stand mode, and a sort of floating mode.
Further, the ATIV Q runs on an Intel Core i5 Haswell processor and weighs 2.84 pounds. Switching between the Android Jelly Bean or Windows 8 operating systems does not require a reboot of the ATIV Q, you only need to press the start button.

The real deal and uniqueness of the hybrid device is dual-booting, and particularly the SideSync software that allows the users to share data between the two operating systems, and even pin Android apps to your Start screen. It also enables the users to back up their Samsung Android phone, and even use their PC keyboard to type on their phone.

As of now there is no mention of the launch date and the price remains unsaid so far but Samsung's new hybrid is reported to allegedly launch sometime later this year.

Samsung also announced their 10.1 inch ATIV Tab 3 which would run on Windows 8 OS. For one, the Tab 3 borrows heavily from its Android-powered cousins in the Galaxy family. The tablet comes with a Z2760 Atom inside along with 2GB RAM and weighs just 550g, or about 19 ounces. Samsung claims it can last up to 8.5 hours on the battery inside, which is actually quite a bit better than we would have anticipated from an x86 tablet with a 10.1-inch, 1,366 x 768 display. Dimension-wise the device is 8.2mm thick. The Galaxy DNA goes beyond just appearances though, the ATIV Tab 3 also includes an S Pen and S Note software plus a buyer also gets a free copy of Office Home & Student. Regarding the price and availability, the tablet is expected to come by August at $699 (Rs. 41,590), keyboard cover included.

ATIV Book 9 Plus

Samsung announced new ATIV Book 9 Plus and ATIV Book 9 Lite ultrathin Windows 8 ultrabooks. The ATIV Book 9 Plus offers a 13.3-inch 3200 x 1800 qHD+ multi-touch display. The new display, meanwhile, is coated in Gorilla Glass and has a 72 percent color gamut. The ultrathin, Book 9 is powered by Intel's Core i5 and i7 ULT Haswell processors (depending on the model), which offer a full 12 hours of battery life. It also supports up to 8GB of RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4400, a 256GB SSD. Beating Apple's MacBook Air the ATIV Book 9 Plus is 13.6mm at its thickest point. The device weighs just 1.39kg, the Book 9 Plus boasts a cold boot time of less than six seconds and is available only in Ash Black. The Plus offers two hinge positions -- one at about 105 degrees and another all the way down to 180 degrees. Battery life would last for 12 hours, according to Samsung. Price remains unsaid but the ultrabook will be available by Q3.

ATIV Book 9 Lite

The Book 9 Lite features a 13.3-inch 1366 x 768 touch display and is powered by an AMD A6 quad-core chip offering 8.5 hours on a full charge. The ultrabook includes 4GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and comes in Ash Black and White variants. The device will be powered by quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz . The company will also bundle its new SideSync software on both devices, allowing users to drag and drop file transfers between Galaxy smartphones and the desktop. Samsung is yet to announce availability or pricing for the new Book 9 ultrabooks; we have contacted the company for more information. Battery life is rated at 8.5 hours, compared to 12 for the Plus. The Book 9 Plus and Lite will launch globally in Q3 but the price is not disclosed so far.

Galaxy NX

Samsung also announced the Galaxy NX, its latest interchangeable lens camera. Appearance-wise, the Galaxy NX looks quite similar to Samsung's older NX models. But his one has a massive 4.8-inch HD touchscreen display. The Android camera is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, runs on Android 4.2.2, and features an APS-C class 20.3-megapixel image sensor. It has full compatibility with Samsung's growing line of interchangeable lenses - including the new 3D lenses. It has 16GB of internal storage, support for microSD cards, and 2GB of RAM. The Galaxy NX is also equipped with Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity, so you can upload and share your images virtually anywhere, and it has an SVGA resolution eye-level viewfinder. The Galaxy NX can shoot 1080p video at 24 or 50 frames per second, up to 8.6 frames per second of stills, and has a maximum shutter speed of 1/6000th of a second. It can shoot up to 25,600 ISO for low-light situations. The Galaxy NX is powered by 4,360mAh battery.
The camera runs on Android, hence, it can also take advantage of all of the apps available to Google's platform - including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks.
Samsung hasn't mentioned about the availability and price of the incredible Galaxy NX speculations suggests that it would cost close to $1,000 (Rs. 59,710).

Samsung also announced the multiple color variants on Galaxy S4. The S4 flagship may now be able to boast on the sexy colors. As shown on stage, the five new colors are blue, purple, red, brown, and pink. The specifications of the new color variants of the Galaxy S4 is expected to be the same.
To recap on the specs of the device, it sports a 5.0 inches Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors display that offers ascreen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 441ppi. It is powered by Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 and runs on Android OS, v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) platform and is backed by the 2 GB RAM. It comes in 16, 32 and 64 GB variant with microSD support of up to 64 GB. It has got 13 MP rear camera and 2 MP front facing camera. Connectivity options include 3G, 4G LTE, GPRS, EDGE, WLAN, NFC, Infrared Port, Bluetooth and USB. The device is powered yLi-Ion 2600 mAh battery.
The pricing on the new variants are not yet disclosed and the availability also has not been mentioned so far but it is expected to come soon.

ATIV One  5 Style

The ATIV One 5 Style is a white, metallic 21.5-inch desktop that comes with a curved corners and the glossy finish. The PC comes with the 1080p touch screen display, storage options will go up to 1TB, and will also feature a 4GB RAM. There are also plenty of ports offered by Samsung in this AIO. Regarding connectivity options, there's Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI in/out, audio jacks, and a memory card slot. ATIV One 5 Style is basically a Windows 8 All-in-One computer and is powered by an AMD A6 quad-core CPU.
