Samsung Highlights Galaxy for the Planet Progress, Announces Sustainability Goals Through 2030
Samsung has announced significant progress under its Galaxy for the Planet initiative, confirming that it has successfully met all four sustainability goals originally set for 2025. Alongside this milestone, the company has introduced a new set of environmental commitments extending through 2030.
Launched in 2021, Galaxy for the Planet serves as the sustainability platform for Samsung's Mobile eXperience (MX) business. The initiative was designed to reduce environmental impact across product design, manufacturing processes, and operational practices.

Galaxy for the Planet sustainability focus areas for 2030
For the next stage, Galaxy for the Planet will move beyond actions tied only to individual products and address the wider environmental and ecological effects of Samsung’s global mobile operations. The refreshed 2030 roadmap concentrates on three linked themes: circularity, water stewardship and biodiversity protection.
Under the circularity pillar of Galaxy for the Planet, Samsung plans to keep expanding the use of recycled resources in its mobile portfolio. The company aims for every module inside every Galaxy mobile product to include at least one recycled material, supporting more efficient and responsible sourcing across the broader Galaxy ecosystem.
Through the water stewardship element of Galaxy for the Planet, Samsung intends to manage water more carefully across mobile operations. The company’s goal is to return 110 percent of the water consumed, while also seeking the highest Alliance for Water Stewardship certification level for responsible water management practices at relevant sites.
Galaxy for the Planet also targets biodiversity by setting a goal to conserve ecosystems equal in scale to the footprint of Samsung’s global mobile operations. Efforts will centre on protecting and restoring natural habitats, supporting ecological resilience and biodiversity near Samsung locations, and underlining the company’s view that environmental responsibility is fundamental to how it innovates and creates long-term value.
