Sandisk Launches NAS 600 SATA and NAS 800 PCIe 5.0 SSDs in India

If your NAS is still relying on spinning hard drives, Sandisk now has a couple of SSD upgrades designed specifically for the job. The company has announced its new SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD and SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD in India, targeting prosumers, creative professionals, and small businesses running storage systems around the clock.

The two drives sit at very different ends of the performance spectrum. The NAS 600 is a conventional SATA SSD designed to make upgrading an existing HDD-based NAS relatively straightforward, while the NAS 800 goes considerably further with PCIe 5.0 speeds and is aimed at high-performance hybrid and all-flash setups.

SANDISK NAS 600 SATA: An Easier Upgrade From Hard Drives

The SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD is arguably the more approachable of the two. It uses a 2.5-inch, 7mm SATA form factor and can fit into compatible NAS systems that support 2.5-inch SSDs, including systems with larger 3.5-inch drive bays. Sandisk notes that an adapter or other accessory may be required depending on the NAS.

Sandisk claims sequential read speeds of up to 560MB/s, along with endurance of up to 2,500 TBW on the 4TB model. The drive is also rated for up to 2.25 million hours MTTF, with Sandisk positioning it for demanding multi-user workloads and always-on storage environments.

The NAS 600 can either replace hard drives entirely or be used as a solid-state cache or faster storage tier alongside existing HDDs. Since there are no moving mechanical components, it should also operate without the mechanical noise associated with traditional hard drives.

Sandisk will offer the NAS 600 in capacities ranging from 500GB to 4TB. The company is primarily targeting creative professionals and small businesses that need faster access to files without necessarily moving to a completely flash-based NAS setup.

SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe Brings PCIe 5.0 Speeds

For workloads where SATA performance simply isn't enough, Sandisk has introduced the SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD.

The M.2 2280 drive uses PCIe 5.0 and is designed for all-flash and hybrid NAS systems handling more demanding workloads. Sandisk claims sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,900MB/s and 13,200MB/s, respectively, on the 1.92TB model.

Random performance can reach up to 2.3 million read IOPS and 2 million write IOPS on the 3.84TB version. Those numbers put the NAS 800 in a completely different performance category from the SATA-based NAS 600.

The endurance figures are substantial as well. The 7.68TB version is rated for up to 14 PBW, or 14 petabytes written. Sandisk says the drive can be used for caching, storage tiering, or primary storage in demanding NAS environments.

The company specifically highlights multi-user collaboration, databases, virtualization, content creation, and agentic AI workloads as potential use cases. The NAS 800 uses SANDISK TLC 3D NAND and will be available in capacities ranging from 960GB to 7.68TB.

SANDISK NAS 600 and NAS 800 Price and Availability

Both the SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD and SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD are scheduled to become available in September through Sandisk.com as well as select retailers and e-tailers worldwide.

Sandisk has announced the new SSD portfolio in India, although Indian pricing has not been revealed in the company's release yet.

For reference, the SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD starts at $179.99 in the US for the 500GB version, while the SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD starts at $309.99 for the 960GB variant.
