Search.xxx: Search Engine for Porn Launched by ICM Registry

According to The Next Web reports, ICM Registry, the company behind the pornographic .xxx sponsored top-level domain (sTLD), has launched a search engine designed for exploring adult entertainment content, dubbed by the name of Search.xxx.

As per reports, the newly launched service has a decent chance to become an alternative to Google to search pornographic content mainly avoiding users to get embarrassed to hide their search history popping up infront of others, and also because Google frequently tweaks its algorithm to rank porn sites lower.

“Google, in their wisdom, has decided that"s more relevant to what their customers are looking for," said ICM CEO Stuart Lawley told Network World in the report. “The adult industry is feeling a little bit deranked by the major search engines."

Lawley told The L Magazine that the search engine is ICM"s next attempt toward making the .xxx world a safe haven for everyone between consumers all the way to porn producers.

.xxx sites will be scanned daily for malware using McAfee security products, and those that fail the test won"t be indexed by the search engine. Search.xxx has already cataloged 21 million webpages from .xxx sites.

Furthermore, Search.xxx will be customizable for users who want to change its appearance and will also let you set your sexuality. The latter will only really be effective assuming the sites and content are using accurate metadata (unlikely, given their reputation in this area).

The .XXX top-level domain has been approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) in 2011. Moreover, Search.xxx is also optimised for mobile browsers and is available in 19 languages. Users can also filter the search results according to their sexual orientation.
