Sony Xperia S is a recently launched Android device that runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. But, there was happy news for the users of this device as Sony announced the ICS update for it. In May, we reported that Sony Xperia S will be getting the ICS update by June. On Thursday, the brand has rolled out the Android 4.0.4 ICS update for the flagship smartphone.

The ICS 4.0.4 update comes with better lock screen and re-sizable widgets. The operating system update weighs around 200 MB and requires a solid Wi-Fi connected network. The software can be directly updated from the phone or you can also use the Xperia Update web platform of Sony or simply connect your phone to a PC or Mac and use the Sony companion app.

Though the update is rolled out officially, not all the phones will be upgraded immediately. The availability depends on the carrier and the users will be intimated with a message. The roll out will be gradual and will happen in a couple of weeks.

The above video explains the new features that will be brought in with the update. Users of Xperia S can expect enhanced performance and increased number of applications. The special thing about Xperia S is that it is the first one to come with an independent Sony logo. The handset has a magnificent design with the illumination bar.
