It was back in December last year that the Trump administration had signed a new law that was implemented to ban the Kaspersky Lab software within the US government agencies. The Trump administration claimed that the Kaspersky Labs was vulnerable and that it might have ties with the Russian Intelligence agencies. Kaspersky Labs had then denied all the claims made by the Trump administration, even when the ruling was passed and the Kaspersky's security software was removed from all of the government machines.

Now as per some sources from the web, Twitter has also banned the ads from Kaspersky labs quoting that it has ties to Russian intelligence agencies. Twitter has confirmed the ban in an email to Reuters after the development was disclosed in a recent blog post by Kaspersky Lab co-founder Eugene Kaspersky. The company came to know about the ban in January and has denied the allegations made on it on a repeated basis, claiming that the company is ready to open up its code for further inspection.

In a blog post, Kaspersky said that it was surprised by the ban and even asked the company to reconsider its decision. According to them:

"We haven't violated any written - or unwritten - rules, and our business model is quite simply the same template business model that's used throughout the whole cybersecurity industry: We provide users with products and services, and they pay us for them".

The Kaspersky Lab is further claiming that Twitter is the only social media platform which has banned its advertisements. Back in January Facebook had also removed Kaspersky Lab from a list of anti-virus offerings for the users, The company commented on the ban that:

"This decision is based on our determination that Kaspersky Lab operates using a business model that inherently conflicts with acceptable Twitter Ads business practices."

Twitter had also claimed that the company was responding to a Department of Homeland Security warning which claimed that the Kaspersky products were a threat to that national security posed by the Russian Government access. However, it would be worth noting the fact that Twitter had previously also banned the Russian media outlets Sputnik and Russia Today from its platform claiming that the publications had interfered in the 2016 US Presidential elections.

It would be hard to comment whether Kaspersky is actually a threat to the user base or not, however, if that is the case then we need to look out and use the programs that don't hamper any kind of user experience and are not a threat to a user's privacy.
