UC Browser for Internet.org Launched in India
UCWeb, mobile browser in India has announced today, that it has taken part in the Facebook-led Internet.org initiative by launching the UC Browser for Internet.org, a special version of its flagship UC Browser, that gives Reliance subscribers free access to some mobile websites including Facebook and others at no data charges. This is the first time Internet.org has launched in India, to make Internet more accessible and more affordable to local users.

As part of the effort, Reliance subscribers in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Kerala will now have access to more than 30 websites and services ranging from maternal health, education, news, sports, jobs, communication to local information. "We are honored to be part of the Internet.org program and to be able to bring critical information to our users without data charges.
Giving people free access to those information could substantially increase the rate of Internet adoption as well as enable people to stay informed about and connected with the world," says Kenny Ye, Managing Director of UCWeb India.
Internet.org is a Facebook-led initiative with the goal of making affordable internet access available to the two thirds of the world who are not yet connected and to bring the same opportunities to everyone that the connected third of the world has today.
