Vistara Becomes First Indian Airline to Offer Free In-Flight Wi-Fi for All International Passengers

Vistara pioneered in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity on international flights with its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft from September 2020. This service was later extended to Airbus A321 Neo aircraft. Last year, the airline began offering complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi for Club Vistara members.

Complimentary Wi-Fi for All International Customers

Starting last week, Vistara introduced 20 minutes of free in-flight Wi-Fi for all international passengers on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A321neo aircraft. This marks a first in Indian aviation history. The service is provided by Tata's Nelco Network Products Limited (NNPL) and powered by Panasonic Avionics Corporation.

The initial offer was limited to messaging apps, but the current service allows usage on any platform. Passengers can extend their Wi-Fi experience by purchasing plans using Indian or internationally issued credit cards.

Purchasing In-Flight Wi-Fi Plans

To buy a plan using an Indian credit/debit card, passengers must complete the purchase within the 20-minute active session to receive the transaction One-Time Password (OTP) via email. Several plans are available to suit different needs.

The first plan, exclusive to Club Vistara members, costs INR 372.74 / USD 4.95 and offers unlimited data for messaging apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, and iMessage. Other plans include the Surf plan at INR 1577.54 / USD 20.95 for embedded audio and video streaming with unlimited data.

Stream Plan for Unlimited Data Streaming

The Stream plan provides unlimited data streaming on all sites at INR 2707.04 / USD 35.95. This plan caters to passengers who require extensive internet usage during their flight.
