Vodafone introduces Unlimited 3G Data Plan for Karnataka Customers
Vodafone India has introduces its first unlimited 3G data plans in Karnataka circle. The company targets at speeding up 3G adoption in India. The unlimited 3G plans are available only for postpaid consumers as of now. There are subscription plans at monthly rentals of Rs.650, Rs.750, Rs.850, Rs. 1,250 and Rs. 1,599. Tata Docomo had launched a similar unlimited 3G plan titled ‘RCV 250’ in October. This plan gave users unlimited access to 3G data for 30 days. In addition users also got free talktime worth Rs.250 with lifetime validity.
Vodafone India’s plan is comparatively less attractive compared to the offering by Tata Docomo. Users subscribing to Vodafone’s plan will get 3G speed upto a certain data limit. After this data limit exceeds, the speeds will be reduced to 64Kbps. Users however will not be charged extra for further data usage. The data limits for various plans are as follows.
- Rs.650 – 3GB
- Rs.750 – 4GB
- Rs.850 - 5GB
- Rs.1250 - 8GB
- Rs.1599 - 12GB
Most users seem to be satisfied with the offerings of their 2G data plans. In order to bring a change to this situation, private telecos and state owned teleco BSNL have started to cap data speeds. They have also reduced data limits. The companies plan to motivate the 2G user base towards shifting to 3G data plans. This new plan from Vodafone is also pointing in this direction. Hopefully Vodafone will launch similar 3G data plans for prepaid customers soon. In the meantime postpaid customers of Vodafone can enjoy the liberty offered by this new plan.
