Western Digital launches 2TB My Book VelociRaptor Duo for Faster Connectivity
If the thunderbolt port on your Mac is left unoccupied and you want to add more storage space to the device then Western Digital’s 2 TB My Book VelociRaptor Duo could be of help. The new hard drive on the table dubbed as the fastest ever hard drive from Western Digital utilizes a pair of ultra fast 10000 RPM 1 TB Velociraptor hard drives with Thunderbolt technology for delivering fast data read and write speeds.
This new drive also facilitates faster connectivity between the drives and Mac. Operating systems supported by this drive include Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher. The super fast thunderbolt connection is capable of transferring humongous amount of data in short time. For instance the connection can copy a full length Blu-ray movie within a span of a minute.
Customization and management
VelociRaptor Duo drives are easily customizable allowing users to configure the storage according to their requirements. Users can choose RAID 0 system if they are looking for faster data transfer and can choose RAID 1 if they want enhanced data protection very much similar to the features NTFS and FAT systems. Users will also be able to choose a JBOD system to access the devices separately.
My Book VelociRaptor Duo also arrives with two thunderbolt ports that allow users to add additional drives or thunderbolt devices to it. The whole system is easy to service also. Users can easily replace a drive in case it fails. Another advantage of the device is that it will allow users to boot Mac from the external drives in case a need for system recovery arises.
The price factor
A major drawback of My Book VelociRaptor Duo is its heavy pricing. The device arrives at an expensive price tag of $899.99 (approximately Rs. 50,000) which could give second thoughts to those who are planning to purchase it.
