Windows 8 consumer preview downloaded 1 million times on first day

Microsoft's much hyped about operating system, the Windows 8 has recorded 1 million downloads of it's preview version. The Windows 8 beta version was available for download from yesterday. Within 24 hours, the number of downloads has touched 1 million. Very impressive figures.

These statistics come as a morale-booster for Microsoft. The beta version of the operating system was released to enable people & developers alike to understand it fully. After having the feel of the Windows 8, people have responded positively.

One reason for the record number of downloads is the support for tablet computers. Cloud computing support also made it's way to the people's heart. Thus, by observing this trend, we can say that Microsoft is on the right track.
