Windows Blue: Microsoft Plans to Launch Windows 8 Low Cost Successor
Windows 8, Windows 7.8 and now it is not Windows 9, it is Windows Blue. Yes! What you heard is true. The software giant is prepping the low cost successor of its much acclaimed Windows 8 OS, according to the Zdnet recent report.
Reportedly, Microsoft is planning to make Windows Blue pricing affordable to masses and there are even indications that the OS could ship for free too. A free OS from Microsoft; that is something next best to impossible. But that is what competition could do in a market!
Microsoft Blue is expected to hit the market in middle of 2013. If this report turns out to be true we can clearly see that Microsoft is trying to keep the Windows OS upgrades on a yearly cycle just like other mobile OS like Android and iOS. There are also plans to update Windows SDK with the launch of this new Blue OS version.
Experts believe that with this updated SDK, the company could stop approving apps specifically designed for Windows 8. However, they also hope that Windows Blue would be backward compatible in the sense that all Windows 8 app could work will in Blue OS version too.
In line with the company’s efforts to curb piracy, we can expect that Windows Blue will only work with genuine copies of Windows. Those who have pirated copies of Windows have to move into genuine ones to take advantage of this cheaper Windows OS in the making. Let us wait to hear more on this OS.
