As expected, Apple just announced the HomeKit at the WWDC 2015. The company announced that HomeKit will be soon able to control number of smart home products.

Apple Announces Enhanced HomeKit to Control Many Smart Home Products

The HomeKit will control including security systems, motion sensor, window shades and even the carbon dioxide monitors. However, the current version only had controls over the basics like locks, lights and thermostats. But Apple makes it easier to control HomeKit devices from outside the home.

Meanwhile, the HomeKit devices can now be paired and controlled using the iCloud. The new HomeKit is built to be controlled by the iPhone through Siri and third-party apps as well, rather than building a specific HomeKit app.

However, HomeKit basically bundles up all the products together and allows individual app to control new smart home products at once.
