X Unveils Job Search Tool: A LinkedIn Challenger in the Making?

Elon Musk's ambitious plans for X (formerly Twitter) extend beyond its current social media avatar. One of the intriguing developments is the introduction of a job search tool, positioning X as a potential challenger to LinkedIn. This feature, initially revealed in July and beta-tested in August, has now made its way to the web for all users.

How to Navigate X's Job Search Tool

Users can now access X's job search tool without the earlier restrictions of a verified account. To explore this new feature, simply login to your X account and visit the dedicated job search page. The interface is minimalistic, presenting two text fields-one for the job title keyword and the other for location. After entering these details, click the Search button, and the platform will display a list of job listings matching your query.

Tool Features and Navigation

The tool showcases job listings in the left pane and their details in the right pane. Users can click on a listing to view information such as the company name, job role, location, company profile, and more. Pay ranges are also visible if provided by the company. Additional options include copying the job URL, sharing it via direct message, and sharing it through an X post.

However, the application process is not completed within X. Clicking on a job listing redirects users to the company's hiring page for further steps. As of now, the job search tool offers a basic experience, lacking advanced search filters for refining results. Notably, users cannot filter job roles by type (full-time, part-time, freelance, etc.).

Elon Musk's Promise and Premium Subscription

When Elon Musk teased X's job search tool in August, he asserted that it would be "cool," leaving users curious about its unique features. Presently, only organizations subscribed to "Verified for Organizations," a premium subscription costing Rs 82,300 per month, can post jobs on the app.

What Lies Ahead for X's Job Search Tool?

While the web version is currently available, X's job search tool is expected to extend its support to Android and iOS soon, although no specific timeline has been disclosed. The tool's future developments and Musk's promised "cool" features remain topics of anticipation.
