Xiaomi launches Intelligent Door Lock with fingerprint scanner and more

Apart from manufacturing smartphones Xiaomi designs and develops a lot of consumer electronic products as well. From power banks to fitness bands to smart devices, Laptops, TVs and more, Xiaomi indeed has a big portfolio of products.

While Xiaomi is catering to a large segment, the Chinese OEM has now launched a new product which is basically the 123rd product under the company's crowdfunding platform. This product is a smart home gadget and the company is calling it a Classic Intelligent Fingerprint Door Lock. The new device comes with a price tag of1699 Yuan (roughly Rs. 16,687) and the price includes installation charges as well.

Talking more about the new product, the most interesting feature is that the lock has an embedded fingerprint recognition scanner and a premium design. The company has claimed that the door lock further comes with a solid anti-breaking ability and utilizes not just one but four different unlocking procedures. It includes using the fingerprint, mobile phone app connected via Bluetooth, password input and a physical key.

Xiaomi has further said that the handle of this product will retain its functionality for over ten years and that it can withstand 100,000 times pressure test without sagging. As for the technology behind the fingerprint sensor, this door makes use of a live fingerprint chip and the data is preserved in a separate secure location.

Well, Xiaomi has also said that the error rate of the fingerprint chip is 0.0005 percent and several people from different age groups (7 -70years) can unlock this door. The Classic Intelligent Fingerprint Door Lock has also been designed to function under extreme conditions (high or low temperature) and the lock also has some sort of deep learning ability so that frequent users are easily recognized.

The door lock does come with an alarm system as well which is instantly triggered if a user fails to unlock the door in about 15 trials. It is also triggered when someone possibly a robber or a thief tries to pick the door lock. Users can also use the password input and enter a 6 digit code. The lock also has an anti-peeping virtual password which is a 16-digit password.
