Xiaomi opening its first Mi Home Store in Kolkata tomorrow
Notably, India's first Xiaomi Mi Store was launched in Bengaluru back in May 2017.
Xiaomi is all set to open its first Mi Home Store in Kolkata on January 26, which is tomorrow. Located in South City Mall, it will be 20th Mi Store in India. The Xiaomi Mi Stores are already available in other cities including Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Bhopal, Thane and Mumbai. Notably, India's first Mi Store was launched in Bengaluru back in May 2017.

Currently there are five Mi Stores in Bengaluru, two stores in Chennai, Pune, New Delhi, Mumbai, and one in Hyderabad, Gurugram, Noida, Pune, Bhopal and Thane. Xiaomi had stated last year that it plans to open 100 Mi Stores PAN India in the next couple of years. Well, looks like they are keeping its promise. The Mi Home Store can be considered as a one-stop shop for everything which the company sells in India.
This means customers can purchase smartphones, selfie sticks, headphones, power banks, fitness bands, VR headsets, air purifiers among other products offered by Xiaomi. You can also pre-book Xiaomi smartphones via the Mi Home Stores at a nominal cost of Rs. 499. Furthermore, you will get an accessories gift voucher worth Rs. 599 with every pre-booking that you make at Mi Home.
Looking at how things are going, Xiaomi has big plans to expand its offline presence in India. The company will probably continue to expand its offline presence with retailers and distributors in the country through its Direct to Retail (DTR) model.

As of now, the company has already partnered with big retail chains including Vijay Sales, Sangeetha, Big C, eZone, and Hotspot to bring Xiaomi's smartphones to more than 600 retail stores in 11 cities in India. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has replaced Samsung to become the top smartphone vendor in India.
Samsung, on the other hand, is planning to launch entry-level online exclusive smartphones to take on Xiaomi. The South Korean tech giant already has a pretty solid offline presence with lakhs of retail stores across India. In comparison, Xiaomi started its journey in the country as an online-only brand. It was only last year when the company opened physical Mi Stores in select cities in India.
