Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Mi LED TV 4 prices hicked in India
Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Mi LED TV 4 will see a price hike very soon in India. The price of the Redmi Note 5 Pro will now start at Rs 14,999.
Famous smartphone maker Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Mi LED TV 4 will see a price hike very soon in India. Manu Kumar Jain, the Xiaomi India head has tweeted a note explaining that the company is increasing the price of the products due to hike in PCBA import duty.
Shocking the price of the Redmi Note 5 Pro will now start at Rs 14,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, which is a hike of Rs 1000 than the previous price. The company has recently launched its Mi TV lineup and now its going to see a price hike. The Mi LED TV 4 with 55-inches screen size will see a price hike Rs 5000. So the 4K HDR Mi LED TV 4 will now cost you Rs 44,999, the earlier pice was Rs 39,999.
But if you are planning to buy Mi TV 4A (43-inch) and Mi TV 4A (32-inch) then don't worry because the price will remain same - Rs 22,999 and Rs 13,999 respectively
"In order to ramp up supply for Redmi Note 5 Pro, we are importing a significant amount of PCBAs as our local PCBA production would only ramp up 100% by CY Q3 2018. With the recent changes in tax structure on PCBA imports and the depreciation of the rupee (by 5% since the beginning of the year), this has resulted in a significant increase in costs for us," according to the Twitter post.
The Indian government in April 2018, has announced a 10% duty on imports of PCBs or PCBA, which stands for Printed Circuit Board Assembly. The government has also increased import duty on other parts like camera modules, connectors, etc. So this is an aftermath of the government's decision. That the only reason why Apple has also push the production units in India in the last few months.
The Twitter note says that the company has received a huge demand for Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi LED TV 4 after the launch. Now, let's see what will happen after this price hike of the products. Are you still going to buy the products?
