You Can Now Edit Videos Directly in Google Drive with Google Vids
Google Drive is getting a new update that allows users to start editing directly with Google Vids right from Drive. The feature will be available for Google Workspace customers across Business Starter, Standard, and Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus; Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, and Enterprise Essentials Plus; Nonprofits; as well as Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus.
Those who have previously purchased the Gemini Business or Gemini Enterprise add-ons will also receive access. In addition, the update is rolling out to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra users as well.

Enhanced Video Editing Feature on Google Drive
When previewing a video in Drive, users will now see an "Open" button in the upper-right corner. Clicking it will open the file directly in Google Vids, where it opens automatically and is ready for editing.
The new editing capability is designed to streamline video workflows. Users can trim, crop, and add text or effects to their videos seamlessly. This enhancement aims to save time and improve efficiency for individuals and teams working with video content.
Google Vids is an AI-powered video creation app for work, designed to help you create, write, produce, edit, collaborate, and share videos with ease. With Vids, you can also make quick edits to videos stored in Google Drive-even if they were created outside the app. This includes trimming, adding music, or applying other simple adjustments. Supported file types for editing include: MP4, QuickTime, OGG, and WebM.
Availability and Access
This feature is rolling out gradually and should be available to all users by the end of August 2025. To access the editing tools, users need to open a video file in Google Drive and select the "Open with Google Vids" option.
This approach allows users to perform complex tasks without leaving the familiar environment of Google Workspace. The integration of Vids into Google Drive reflects Google's commitment to providing versatile tools for its users. By offering advanced video editing capabilities within its platform, Google continues to support creative professionals and everyday users alike.
