You May Have to Pay 4x More for Gemini AI Plus, Says Google

Google is reportedly informing Gemini AI Plus subscribers about a change that could make accessing its more advanced AI models much more expensive than it is right now. From November 13, 2026, you will no longer be able to manually select Pro models in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search. If you want to continue using these models, you may have to upgrade to a more expensive subscription.

According to an email shared by a Reddit user, Google AI Plus subscribers will retain access to the company's Flash and Flash Lite models, which are designed to offer speed and intelligence. Users will also be able to continue existing conversations that used a Pro model, but they will need to switch to another available model.

The change does not mean Google is increasing the price of the existing AI Plus plan. Instead, it is restricting access to Pro models, making a higher-tier subscription necessary for users who want to keep selecting them. Read on to know what’s happening.

Google AI Plus users to pay four times more for Pro models?

As of now, Google AI Plus costs Rs 399 per month, while Google AI Pro costs Rs 1,950 per month. This means subscribers who upgrade to AI Pro will pay roughly four times as much to retain access to Pro models.

Meanwhile, Google AI Pro and the higher-priced AI Ultra plan will continue to offer access to Pro models and other advanced options.

For AI Plus subscribers, the decision will depend on how they use Gemini. Those who mainly need quick responses and everyday assistance can continue using the available Flash and Flash Lite models. However, users who prefer Pro models for tasks that require more advanced reasoning or detailed responses may need to consider upgrading.

What’s new with Google

Google recently announced the rollout of Gemini 4 Argon to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers, bringing improvements to reasoning, writing quality and response accuracy.

In addition to this, the tech giant has also introduced new task management capabilities and integrations with more than 40 applications. As the company expands Gemini's capabilities, access to its more advanced models is becoming an important difference between subscription tiers.

For existing AI Plus subscribers, the key point is that their current plan is not necessarily becoming more expensive. Instead, they will have fewer model choices from November 13, according to the reported email. Those who want to continue selecting Pro models will need to pay more for a higher-tier plan.
